Dr Hartnell is involved in the latest tendon reconstruction study.
This was stimulated after he realised that there was quite significant downside for using the hamstring tendon. Equally and more so the patellar tendon that is being used leaves quite a bit of morbidity while the patient is recovering. The Lars Ligament reconstruction was an exciting project but unfortunately with time and failures Dr Hartnell does not believe that the Lars Ligament is a good viable option. Dr Hartnell believes there has to be a better option and is undergoing this latest trial. We are awaiting a patent and a protection before we can announce exactly what the fine details of it are. We are exploring the tendon under strict scientific rigor and the results so far are promising. Again this is hopefully the new age for tendon reconstruction.
